A rough to let you guys know this weeks blog post is up! Check it out at wscully.com/blog (link in profile). I talk a little bit about my experiences since I’ve let up on my daily project. In just 1 week the immense weight I had felt from this project has turned into excitement. Thanks for reading, everyone :)

Rough sketch for yesterday’s chalk session. It’s interesting to see how enlarging a small sketch onto a chalk board changes everything.

After I vectorize a piece of lettering I always print it out and note any irregularities, kerning issues, wonky curves, or anything that needs to be changed in general.

Part of my process is taking a thumbnail sketch and roughing it out in my sketchbook. This is usually what that looks like.

So I’m 10 months in project #fiftytwobythree. About 4 months ago I bumped up to creating something everyday and publishing it to instagram. It’s been a great creative challenge and has helped me tremendously. I’ve come to a point though, where I’m gaining a lot of responsibility from school and just life in general. In order for me to create quality work, I won’t be able to continue producing a piece of new work everyday. I’m pretty bummed about this, but I am still going to continue with the project. The adaption will be less new pieces, and more process shots along with infrequent “finished” pieces posted. Again, I’m sad that I can’t continue as I have but I need to make decisions that will be healthy for me personally and creatively. If you’re interested in reading more about my decision to do this, I wrote up a short blog post about it at wscully.com/blog (link in profile). Thanks to everyone who’s followed along so far, I really appreciate all of you.

Sometimes you need to step back and get a good perspective on what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. I’ll have an announcement for you guys prepared for tomorrow’s blog post discussing how I plan to move forward with this project. Thanks to everyone who has followed along thus far. (Side note: I found some crayola paint brush pens at target yesterday. I’m actually really liking them. Proof you don’t need fancy tools.) 😄

Pop! Here’s a little peak into my process as of recent. I have been using tracing paper a lot more, and it has been very beneficial. Top is a printed scan of the final sketch.
